St. Anthony’s Catholic Primary Academy is an inclusive school which focuses on the well-being and progress of every child. We have high expectations of all our children. To ensure they achieve their potential we engage a range of strategies to issue challenge at an appropriate level and provide support to overcome barriers to learning. Children with special educational needs are catered for within their own class and, where useful, may be withdrawn for short periods to work with an adult, individually or in a small group. Similarly, children who are identified as more able, demonstrating a particular aptitude in a curriculum area, will be given opportunities to extend their learning in class, and may work on challenges outside the classroom. All children have equal access to the curriculum.
The Equality objectives for 21/22 are as follows and are considered throughout our policy construction:
1) The attainment gap between SEN pupils and xSEN pupils to be reduced significantly.
2) The attainment gap between PPG pupils and xPPG pupils to be further reduced.
3) The attendance gap between EAL vs xEAL, SEND vs xSEND and PPG vs xPPG to be further reduced.
Snow and Bad Weather
In the event of snow or bad weather, parents/carers will be notified by text, school closures will also be posted on the LA website and information given out on local radio stations. We want to reassure all parents/carers that we will always try and keep the school open as long as we are able to ensure the safety of the children.
